Artist Statement
This sculpture reflects some of my favorite memories with my family. The memories are of going to Plaza las Americas in Puerto Rico with family, especially during Christmas. The overall shape is made to look like a Christmas gift to mimic the giant gift boxes that decorated the mall. Surrounding the box are arch windows that serve two purposes: to resemble some of the architecture of the mall, and to symbolize how I can only look at a memory, like through a window, but never actually go back to it. The red velvet ribbon represents the red velvet carpet that was in the mall during Christmas. I also made one of the bows smaller than the other to represent me and my little sister.

A Few of My Favorite Things

1. Books: Reading is one of my favorite things to do and it has been for years.  2. AirPods: Music is one of the most important things for me and I spend most of the day using my AirPods.  3. Photograph: I really love photography and have been practicing it more lately. In the photo are my friends and they are also extremely important to me. 4. BTS Album: This was my first ever K-pop album and it was bought for me by my grandparents so it holds a special memory for me.  5. Ring: This is my high school class ring and it is one of the most important pieces of jewelry I own.  6. Heart Necklace: This necklace come with a pair, and I bought them for me and my best friend. They're inspired by an old Barbie movie we both love.
